Lena and her doll’s house

„The stitches emancipate, they string together and I just carry out the work” says  Jürg Brunner, an artist who lives in Geneva. As a result dreamlike crocheted figures come to life: bizarre heads arranged in groups, falling bodies or Siamese twins wearing a hat that takes the place of a face. Quite a few of Benninger’s fabric sculptures are as small as the ignored little bodybuilder Paul, others are of great presence like the female dragon Lena. The creature measures eight meters and where dragons normally have a head it features a sucker.
