What remains
Forms and shapes reminiscent of the Old Masters yet in tune with the times, and with erotic, ironic, poetic and modern references. The oil paintings and collages by Roland Pirk-Bucher bear an unmistakable signature. This is a style that has lost nothing in the five years since his death: none of its freshness, none of its power and none of its immediacy. That is why I decided that works from his estate should form the next exhibition at Galerie Vitrine. Some have previously been shown somewhere in the world; others have never been seen by the public before. I spent hours in RPB’s atelier; I inspected canvases and considered combinations. The selection I made is entirely personal, but I am convinced of one thing: that Roland Pirk-Bucher still has a great deal to say to us.
