PENTIMENTI
Beat Bracher finds his subjects everywhere: in newspapers, television, and books, as well as in his immediate surroundings—in nature, his own garden, or the streets of Bern, where he currently lives and works.
Once a subject has been discovered, the creative process begins. Bracher searches for the ideal line, the appropriate colour, and a form that gives each work its fullest expression. This is reflected in the title of the exhibition, "Pentimenti." The so-called pentimenti—literally "traces of repentance"—are the visible marks of revisions, corrections, and overpainting made during the painting process. They reveal the artist's ongoing dialogue with the work and offer insight into the creative act itself.
At the opening, Heinz Stahlhut, Director of the Hans Erni Museum Lucerne, will present a short introduction to Beat Bracher's work.
