PRI|M|OR|DI|AL
Strictly translated, primordial means "of the first order". However, the word also stands for "primeval" and "always been there". Galerie Vitrine is exhibiting two artists who both trace the primordial forms of nature. Iranian-born Sepideh Nourmanesh shows the sticking, sucking and folding traps of carnivorous plants as phenotypical relatives of the uterus, but also as organic models of everyday objects such as cups, jugs and pitchers. Carmela Gander devotes herself to the inorganic world. Using kerosene and colored threads, she recreates the line formations in stones, beaches, snowy landscapes and riverbeds. Bathed in black light, her objects and textile pictures stand for the incessant change in the seemingly eternal same.
