One space — two exhibitions
«Von Zauberponys und Vulkanen»
[Of magic ponies and volcanoes]
Titles create a mental space between artwork and language. Jürg Benninger is a Biel-based artist originally from the Canton of Uri who loves the bizarre and playing with the viewer's expectations. His crochet sculptures have titles such as Portrait Nr. 3 ["Portrait No. 3"], Die Cowlady und das Zauberpony, bis jetzt noch ohne Schultern ["The cow lady and the magic pony, so far without shoulders"] and Küss meine Makrele ["Kiss my mackerel"]. Titles such as Untitled, Acryl auf Leinwand, 50 x 40 cm ["Untitled, acrylic on canvas, 50 x 40 cm"] from the Lucerne-based Davix refer not to the outside world but to the result of a dynamic production process somewhere between drafting, erasing and starting again. Have we whetted your curiosity? Discover works by Benninger and Davix side by side at Galerie Vitrine.
On Saturday, September 4th 2021 in partnership with the GWAND Festival 2021, Mr. Hürzeler will be breading and frying organic pants and socks in front of our gallery. The finished and coated fabrics will then be auctioned, with donations to a sustainable textile project.
