MAIHOFSTRASSE MURAL
Lucerne is becoming more colourful, vibrant, and playful!
In memory of the renowned Lucerne artist Thurry Schläpfer, the mural "Buddha" was created during the exceptionally hot summer of 2022 on the slopes of Lucerne's Castle Hill. The work is inspired by one of Schläpfer's celebrated narrative paintings.
What began as an ambitious idea has now become reality. Countless hours of planning and dedicated work—often high up on the scaffolding—have transformed a once-grey façade into a monumental mural, a true "Schläpfer." We believe the people of Lucerne deserve this gift.
To celebrate the completion of the project, we warmly invite everyone who knew Thurry Schläpfer, as well as all those who care about a vibrant and colourful city, to join us for a small celebration.
