¡Hola Cuba!
Sometimes you need to take time out. It is now two years since the team at Galerie Vitrine decided to go somewhere where we could really blow away the cobwebs. We flew to Cuba and were excited to see the art scene in a country that is increasingly opening up to the world. We roamed through Havana by day and night, went on excursions in seemingly sleepy provincial cities like Trinidad and Cienfuegos. And what we saw there – in studios, galleries and art spaces – exceeded our boldest expectations. In a word: we were delighted! Cuban society is vibrant and art acts like a seismograph. The works of the local artists are characterised by a virtually unlimited desire for everything new. We have therefore invited eight of them to present their pictures and sculptures to a Swiss audience. And soon it will be time. It all starts on 26.08.17. I am looking forward to it; not least of all because three artists will be regular guests in the gallery during the exhibition.
