Inspiration ’69
The first moon landing and Easy Rider; Woodstock sinking in the mud and Jane Birkin singing je t’aime… moi non plus with Serge Gainsbourg. The last year of the swinging sixties has become code for revolution and rebellion. Even in fashion. Pierre Cardin, Paco Rabanne and André Courrèges stun with never-before seen cuts, colours and shapes. Miniskirts, colourful skirts, bright make-up, oversized jewellery and lofty hairstyles are a visual expression of the start of the feminist movement. Eve Lene took this spirit and created a series of women’s portraits that resurrect ‘69 in modern imagery. ‒ For hippy romanticists, a flowery VW Beetle will be parked in front of the display case during the preview. A Jimi Hendrix gilet provided by L’Unique Foundation from Basel will remain until the closing event.
