Around the corner
There are no right angles in untouched nature. Where humans take route though, it's teeming with corners. They make sure that one thing leads to another. Otherwise they often go unnoticed and it takes an artist like Doğan Firuzbay to bring them out of the corner and put them in the spotlight. The Lucerne native has been working with corners for years. His photographs of windows, balconies and playing fields are eye-catching. Now, for the first time, he is devoting himself to the subject with paint and brush. According to Firuzbay, the focus of his work has shifted from conceptual preparatory work to a sensory style. Galerie Vitrine is now showing where this has led him. A new illustrated book with the artist's corner photographs will invite comparison.
