Rochus Lussi

An important essay by the German philosopher Walter Benjamin bears the title: “The work of art in the era of its technical reproducibility”. He enquires for the after effects of series production on fine arts. A possible answer is given by Rochus Lussi, an artist from central Switzerland. He uses modern wood processing machines to reproduce sculptures such as hearts, rabbits, women, men or bats. When multiplied, these objects form an ensemble which in itself represents a unique work of art.
